FCC- Net Neutrality and Open Internet Order

Last week the FCC published the new Open Internet Order, which reclassifies broadband internet as a telecommunications service under Title II of the Communications Act. These new rules provide that

  1. Broadband providers cannot block content
  2. Broadband providers cannot prioritize any content or traffic
  3. Broadband providers can not “impair or degrade lawful internet traffic” because of content

This order, supported by the President, in essence allows the FCC to assert authority in order to protect net neutrality. To read the new order click here.
