IRS tax imposters are definitely on the rise ranging from calls claiming to the IRS or Treasury Department trying to scam victims out of their identities or their money. Even attorneys at our firm have received these types of fraudulent calls lately. One tip is that the IRS and Treasury Department will never contact you by phone or text. Sometimes the imposters will claim to be collecting on a loan that never existed. These imposters are attempting to personal information and sometimes have unsuspecting victims transfer money to them directly out of fear of criminal charges. IRS imposters and scams should be reported directly to the feds through numerous official tax fraud reporting portals on the official IRS and Federal Reserve websites. If you are in need of assistance with tax matters feel free to contact our offices at LaSusa & Deb, PLL, attorneys at Law.
